Honda Explorer: Laconia, NH
This figure-eight loop starts in Laconia, NH, and heads along Lake Winnipesaukee, before heading into the beautiful White Mountain National Forest. Amazing views (especially in the fall) and even better roads await. The loop then heads down the valley between Mt. Lafayette and Mt. Moosilauke before backtracking to Tamworth, heading into Hameway State Forest, and then southwest along Squam Lake and back into Laconia.
Honda Explorer: Wayne National Forest, OH
This loop's origin is just southeast of Columbus in Lancaster. It loops in and around the beautiful Wayne National Forest and runs along the Ohio River as it heads into Reedsville on the southernmost section of the route. The loop then works its way northwest through towns like New Plymouth, Gibisonville, Rockbridge, and Sugar Grove before heading back into Lancaster. The route is right in the middle of Ohio's most lush and forested areas and is a not only scenic, but the roads are fantastic, as well.
Honda Explorer: Mount Rainier National Park, WA
This route starts just south of Tacoma (east of Olympia) and then heads along the National Park Highway into Mount Rainier National Park. After the amazing twists and turns just south of Mt. Rainier, it heads east along Highway 12 toward Rimrock Lake where the road hugs the northern coast, before following the Tieton River, and heading southeast into Yakima.
Honda Explorer: Southern Appalachia, NC
Consider this loop a motorcyclist's Bucket-List Ride. Starting in Asheville, NC, the route heads south along the famous Blue Ridge Parkway and into Nantahala National Forest. It then picks up Highway 441 and follows the Oconaluftee River before crossing into Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and onto Gatlinburg. After heading east on the 321, it picks up the 32 and winds along before jumping on Highway 40 along the Pigeon River and Waterville Lake and then meandering back into Asheville. A truly scenic and entertaining ride packed with Class-A roads.
Honda Explorer: Ozark National Forest, AR
If Arkansas isn't on your motorcycle-riding radar, you're clearly missing out. This loop starts in the small town of Clarksville (population 9,000), and heads north into the Ozark National Forest. Stunning scenery awaits as you head through towns like Sand Gap, Mt. Judea, along the Arkansas Grand Canyon, into Mt. Sherman. The route then works its way south through Pettigrew, Arbaugh, and back into Clarksville. Fantastic roads and more scenery than you can shake a stick at await.
Honda Explorer: Austin Hill Country, TX
This Loop heads northwest out of downtown Austin and along a fantastic road that hugs the shoreline of Lake Travis. It then heads into the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife park before passing Buchanan Lake on the way to Llano. If it's lunch time, make sure you stop at Cooper's Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que (www.coopersbbqllano.com). If not, head back southeast along the 71 with a detour along Cypress Mill Road before heading into Spicewood, where there is another fantastic lunch stop: Opie's BBQ (www.opiesbarbecue.com). If you're full, it's time to head back into Austin through Barton Creek and then onto South Congress.
Honda Explorer: Shasta-Trinity National Forest, CA
This route has some of the best scenery and roads that Northern California has to offer. Starting out in the funky town of Eureka, it plunges east into the Shasta-Trinity National Forest along some amazing pieces of tarmac before heading north along Trinity Lake. After miles of breathtaking views you pop out into a valley and head south toward Mt. Shasta. There are plenty of places to lodge for the night in the scenic town of the same name that has been around since the early 1820s.
Honda Explorer: Pacific Coast Range, CA
This route starts in the beautiful town of Mount Shasta at the base of the mountain of the same name, then heads north into the Klamath National Forest. Beautiful vistas and amazing curves await as you work your way across the Pacific Coast Range. The route then cuts south into the Six Rivers National Forest before finishing on the amazing Trinity Highway back into Eureka.
